ARINC Engineering Services, LLC today announced plans to build a new 62,000 square foot hangar to increase capacity for aircraft servicing at its Aircraft Modification and Operations Center (AMOC) in Oklahoma City, OK. ARINC plans to break ground in January.

The company's current facility includes a 50,000 square foot commercial hangar - the largest in the area - as well as 30,000 feet of shops and administrative offices. Adding the new hangar will more than double the facility's hangar capacity.
A spokesman said the company has experienced growing demand for avionics upgrades and scheduled depot maintenance, especially on large government and military aircraft.
"We have been very aggressive in developing more business from both our existing domestic and international customers, as well as launching a dedicated effort to develop new customers, especially in the international marketplace. Our success in capturing that work has driven us to expand the facility," stated Mike Young, Vice President, Aerospace Engineering Systems & Support.
ARINC recently acquired contracts for avionics upgrades on two Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft and two US Government OC-135 Open Skies aircraft. In addition it has received a contract for Programmed Depot Maintenance on a C-130 Hercules transport, and contracts to modify four more large military transport category aircraft. The company's existing hangar can house three such planes under roof, and the new hangar will be capable of handling three to four more. Oklahoma City is the site of Tinker Air Force Base and among the nation's busiest centers of military aircraft servicing. Most major defense contractors maintain offices in the area.
"When ARINC's new hangar is operational by June 2011, our site capacity will be nine large aircraft, including space for four aircraft on the ramps," added Young. "We clearly need the additional capacity to remain competitive in this active marketplace. The work that will be accomplished at our expanded aircraft modification facility will create between 150 and 200 new high-paying jobs in the Oklahoma City area over the next couple of years."
ARINC handles a wide variety of maintenance and upgrade work on military and commercial aircraft at the AMOC, working under direct contracts with branches of the U.S. Military, U.S. Government, foreign governments, and aircraft manufacturers. It also performs subcontract work for prime contractors including Rockwell Collins.
ARINC is a Boeing approved supplier, a Cessna preferred supplier for special mission aircraft, and an authorized Rockwell Collins Installation facility. The OKC facility is also an FAA-certified Part 145 Repair Station and FAA Inspection authorized facility, and it is U.S. Government Ground and Flight Risk (GFR) Certified to provide flight-line, as well as intermediate and depot maintenance.
