PEACHTREE CITY, Georgia — February 1, 2011 — Dixie Aerospace announced today that it has acquired (MEI) Mechanical Enterprises, Inc. MEI is a thermoforming plastics manufacturer. They also have a 145 repair station for interior components. MEI currently serves original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and commercial airlines. Dixie Aerospace is a distributor of expendables with a focus on bearings; this acquisition allows for an expansion into the interiors market.
Keith Coleman, President of Dixie Aerospace, said, "This acquisition compliments our interior strategy at Dixie Aerospace and provides our customers access to the products they are requesting. Our customers want us to provide products within the cabin interior because they prefer working with a trusted partner to fulfill their needs for quality parts."
Bringing MEI’s superior products into the Dixie Aerospace offering will make it even easier for customers to reduce their annual expenses and address areas of necessary product improvements. This allows us to continue product improvements that are of interest to both airline and OEM customers", said Phillip Allgood, previous owner of MEI. Phillip will stay on with Dixie Aerospace as the General Manager of Interior Production.
