Becker Avionics and Axnes Aviation AS Sign Teaming Agreement for the Sale and Marketing of Polycon Wireless Intercom System

Miramar, FL – March 1, 2011 – Becker Avionics and Axnes Aviation AS just announced that they have signed a teaming agreement to work together on sales and marketing, as well as product support services for the Axnes Polycon Wireless Intercom System. Becker Avionics Inc. in Miramar Florida will be responsible to market the Axnes Aviation Wireless Intercom product line to North and South America, including military, governmental and civil customers. In addition, Becker Avionics will act as the service and repair center for the Polycon product in the assigned territory’s.

Tom Sekkelsten, Chief Marketing Officer, Axnes Aviation said "This teaming agreement will provide Axnes Aviation the ability to better present our technologies to the professional aviation market. This new alliance positions our Polycon wireless intercom system more globally, and will help firmly establish our company as one of the leaders in airborne wireless intercom devices. Our commitment to providing each client with superior customer service will be strengthened by Becker Avionics’ proven track record of customer support, engineering, manufacturing, and sales. The teaming of Axnes Aviation and Becker Avionics will provide our customers with a breadth and depth of capabilities truly unique in our industry."

The Polycon system provides the capability to rotary and fixed-wing operators to have audio communications between aircraft crew members in the aircraft and away from the aircraft on the ground, as well as ground support crews. For example, helicopter pilots and off-aircraft flight paramedics preparing a patient for transport and evacuation can remain in constant communication while on the ground and in flight during a hoist rescue mission (up to 15 Nautical miles line of sight range). The Polycon system eliminates communication restrictions by providing seamless hands-free, wireless communications to all members of the crew so members can effectively perform their mission operations.

Markus Schmitz, President and General Manager for Becker Avionics Inc. said “We are very happy to be partnering with Axnes Aviation. As the leader in digital airborne audio and intercom solutions we have often been asked to recommend wireless solutions for SAR, EMS, Law Enforcement and Special Mission operations. This has been challenging, because the product selection available was limited, and did not meet the specific needs of these operators. Our approach is to provide aircraft audio solutions that help our customers maximize their operational capabilities. The use of the Polycon wireless intercom system in combination with Becker Avionics intercom products, and products from other manufacturers will bring interesting new capabilities to the professional aircraft customer.”

The Polycon communication system helps to ensure the safety of the flight crew on the ground or during demanding missions. The product consists of one aircraft interface unit, with an unlimited number of mobile equipment units and a battery charger.

The Polycon System provides: Hands-free communication between hoist operators, rescue personnel on the hoist, and off-aircraft crew members; Semi duplex voice-activated mode, hands-free mode, and a push-to-talk mode; Sixteen independent channels with unlimited mobile crew members; Unsurpassed simultaneous omni-directional communications among all users in the aircraft network, within 15 NM of the aircraft or line of sight range

About Polycon Wireless Intercom System. Polycon communication system was developed by professionals, for professionals and its superior performance and unique patented features are unmatched by competitors. The Polycon system was also developed in close cooperation with professional Search and Rescue (SAR) teams. The system fully integrates the external operating crew into the aircraft intercom system and provides increased situational awareness and constant un-interrupted communication between crew members which is critical to mission execution. The Polycon system has become standard equipment in SAR helicopters from major European helicopter manufacturers and other aircraft OEMs.

Features include: Wireless Intercom Extension; Waterproof design; Rugged construction; Long Range; Effective Noise Canceling technology; Hands Free Operation; No Loss Voice Activation; Casualty Communication; Multiple Aircraft Certifications; Small Physical Size.

The System provides semi duplex communication, based on 16 optional channels (Standard 409 – 419 MHz, UHF). Additionally, the system provides two operational modes, PTT operation or No Interrupt Voice X-mission (NIVOX) activation and allows for TX output power adjustment up to 0.5 W. The mobile transceiver is waterproof to 10 feet, or up to 24 hours in a submersion vest.

pWith its integral microphone built into the mobile transceiver, helmet removal is not required to speak to casualty/patient. The unique patented antenna (isotropic radiation non directional) provides outstanding performance and a typical range with external antenna of up to 10 – 15 NM, or line of sight.

The Aircraft Mounted Base Station is qualified to RTCA DO-160D, with installations flying on the most popular SAR Helicopters, such as EC135, EC145, AS332L2 / EC225, S-76, S-92, and AW139.

The Polycon system is also used in other applications, such as: Mechanics working with running engines; Pre-Flight ground checks; On/Offloading of personnel; Ground personnel when using sling loads; Interoperations with ships, boats, and ground personnel; Interoperations with ground rescue teams; Mechanics on the ground when conducting short test flights; Loadmasters on larger helicopters and aircraft.
