Paris, Amstelveen, 12 April 2011 – Alitalia is now one of AFI KLM E&M’s biggest GE 90 customers. The engine contract includes support services with access to the spare engines pool and engine shop visits on a Time & Material basis. The component flight-hour support contract is provided by AFI KLM E&M and Boeing under their 777 Component Services Program (CSP) partnership.
Privileged relationship set to continue
In 2002 Alitalia signed its first 777-200ER component support contract with AFI KLM E&M. The engine contract extends a working partnership which began in 2010 when AFI KLM E&M purchased four spare GE90 engines from Alitalia and carried out a general overhaul on five Alitalia engines. During a 12-month period Alitalia was introduced to AFI KLM E&M’s quality approach, information and recommendations of its engineering team that lead to tangible cost reduction initiatives. Expanded capabilities and competitive pricing
AFI KLM E&M brings airlines its extensive operational expertise, logistic capabilities and state-of-the-art engineering solutions for GE90 engine maintenance, making it a relevant alternative to the OEM’s solutions. The 777 Component Services Program – offered by AFI KLM E&M and Boeing Commercial Aviation Services – is a unique, dedicated program that allows airlines to permanently benefit from fast-track access to essential, operational parts. With this contract, Alitalia also has access to a solution that significantly reduces its initial investment in spare parts and supply costs. Since it was launched, 777 CSP is airlines’ preferred program of this type. AFI KLM E&M and Boeing also provide a similar program for Next-Generation 737s.
