LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation is pleased to announce the names of 20 recipients of Duncan Aviation’s 2011 Karen K. Duncan Scholarship program. The recipients, who have at least one parent who is a full-time Duncan Aviation employee, will each receive up to $4,000 for two years of continuing education at an accredited two- or four-year college or post-secondary vocational school. The money may be applied toward tuition, fees, books, or room and board.
Recipients were chosen by an independent selection committee who reviewed the students’ grade point averages, ACT scores, class ranking, citizenship, activities, leadership skills and responses to application essay questions. The winners include the following:

Leah Bridges will graduate this spring from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Neb. She is involved in many extracurricular activities, including Competitive Forensics, theater, International Club and Generation Green. She has also been involved in Chess Club, and has served as an Officer for the LHS Book Club. After graduation, she will attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Meghan Carnahan will graduate in May from Bishop Neumann High School in Wahoo, Neb. While attending high school, she has been active in cross country, basketball, softball and track. She is also involved in T.O.R.C.H. Club, Elizabeth Ann Seton Club, and Project Extra Mile. She has served as Vice President of National Honor Society and as an officer on Student Council. After graduation, Meghan will attend Doane College in Crete, Neb., to attain a degree in Business Administration.
Corrine Fuoco will graduate this spring from Lincoln Southwest High School in Lincoln. Her extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, theater, marching band and concert, jazz and show band. After graduation, she will attend Doane College in Crete, majoring in Veterinary Science.
Andrew Gospodarski will graduate this spring from Lincoln Southwest High School in Lincoln. During his high school years, he was involved in baseball, basketball, National Honor Society and Student Fan Federation. This fall, he will attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Loxley Grafe will graduate this May from Weeping Water High School in Weeping Water, Neb. During high school, her many extracurricular activities included Student Council, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Leo Club. She has also been involved in band, choir, basketball and cheerleading and has served as President of Family Career Community Leaders of America. This fall, she will attend Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she will major in Political Science.
Josiah LaRue will graduate from LaRue Christian Academy this spring. During high school he has been involved in Legislation Day and piano. He has also served as an AWANA Leader and Vacation Bible School Leader. After graduation, he will attend college. However, at the time of scholarship application, he was unsure which school he would attend.
Zachary Leitschuck will graduate from Lincoln North Star High School in Lincoln in May. His extracurricular activities during high school include choir, theater, yearbook staff and College Club. He is also involved in National Honor Society and serves as Key Club President. This fall, he will attend Wayne State College majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Music.
Sarah Mertens will graduate this May from Parkview Christian High School in Lincoln. She has been involved in many extracurricular activities, including volleyball, basketball, track, drama and band. She has also been active in National Honor Society, Leadership Team, Praise Team, speech and newspaper staff. This fall she will attend KCKCC in Kansas City, Kan., where she will major in Journalism and play volleyball.
Nicholas Miesbach will graduate this May from Waverly High School in Waverly, Neb. During high school, he has been active in football, basketball, and baseball. He also served as Senior Leadership Team member for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This fall he will be attending the University of Nebrask-Lincoln, studying Pre-med.
Riley Miller will graduate this spring from Seward High School in Seward, Neb. During his high school years, he has been active in marching band, Swing Choir, One Acts and National Honor Society. This fall, he will attend Doane College, majoring in Marine Biology.
Na’Taya Moore will graduate this May from Lincoln North Star High School in Lincoln, Neb. Her extracurricular activities during high school have included bowling, pottery club and yearbook staff. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and has been recognized for scholastice achievement by the Lota Douth Alliance. After graduation, she will attend Southeast Community College in Lincoln. She then plans to pursue a career in Culinary Arts and Photography through The Art Institute of Colorado.
Cameron Ohrt will graduate this May from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Mich. During his high school years, he has been active in ice hockey, Recycle Club and was a member of the LHS Link Crew. Cameron has been accepted to honors programs at several universities in Michigan but, at the time of scholarship application, he was still unsure which school he would attend.
Tyson Osborn will graduate this May from Lincoln North Star High School in Lincoln. While attending high school, he has been active in soccer and is a member of the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. After graduation, Tyson will attend Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, where he will study Physical Therapy and Nursing.
Meagan Palensky will graduate this spring from Raymond Central Jr./Sr. High School in Raymond, Neb. Her extracurricular activities during high school have included, softball, cheerleading, band, Destination Imagination, Future Business Leaders of America and Spanish Club. She is also Student Council Vice President and an officer of National Honor Society. This fall she will attend the University of Nebraska-Kearney, majoring in Respiratory Therapy.
Joshua Peterson will graduate this May from Stevens High School in Rapid City, South Dakota. During his high school years, he has been active in football, track & field, Future Business Leaders of America and National Honor Society. After graduation, he will attend the University of Wyoming, studying Business and Pre-dentistry.
Sandra Peterson will graduate this spring from Seward High School in Seward, Neb. During high school she has been active in FFA and Family Career Community Leaders of America. After graduating she will attend the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Neb., where she will study to become a veterinary technician.
Dylan Scholl will graduate this May from Friend Public School in Friend Neb. During high school, he was active in many extracurricular activities including football, basketball, track, and band. He was also active in Family Career Community Leaders of America, Future Business Leaders of America and Youth Leadership. This fall, he will attend Wayne State College and study Business Management and Marketing.
Alex Schueth will graduate this spring from Pius X High School in Lincoln. He has been involved in several activities throughout high school, including band, forensics, Science Club and Pro-Life Club. He is also a member of the National Honor Society. This fall, he will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, studying Mechanical Engineering.
Molly Storm will graduate this May from Raymond Central Jr/Sr. High School. Her extracurricular activities during high school have included speech, softball, band, Destination Imagination, Forensic League, Mock Trial, Spanish Club and Future Business Leaders of America. She also serves as President of National Honor Society and Student Body President. After graduation, she will attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she will major in International Studies and minor in Japanese.
Alex Upah will graduate this May from Lincoln Northeast High School in Lincoln, Neb. High school activities for Alex have included baseball, football, Quiz Bowl Club, swim team and National Honor Society. After graduation, he will attend Nebraska Wesleyan University where he will major in Physics.
