Satellite Beach, Fla. (April 26, 2011) – Satcom Direct, provider of satellite voice, fax, datalink and Internet communications solutions, announces it has become a Distribution Partner for Inmarsat’s Global Satellite Phone Services (GSPS), including IsatPhone Pro, which targets the corporate, government, and military aviation industries, maritime, emergency response and media outlets, as well as recreational users travelling to remote locations with limited cellular and data network coverage.

IsatPhone Pro is Inmarsat’s first global handheld satellite phone and was built specifically for the Inmarsat network. It offers satellite telephony, data connectivity up to 20kbps, voicemail, text and email messaging, plus GPS location data that can be viewed and sent in a text message. The phone is dust, splash and shock resistant (IP54) with humidity tolerance from 0 to 95 percent, and it can operate in temperature ranges of -2°F (-20°C) to 131°F (+55°C). IsatPhone Pro has a battery life of up to 8 hours of talk time and up to 100 hours of standby, and the maneuverable antenna allows the handset to be placed on its side for hands-free use with Bluetooth devices.

“By becoming a Distribution Partner for Inmarsat’s IsatPhone Pro, we are able to give our customers the latest innovation in global handheld satellite communications and provide them with the superior customer service, 24/7 technical support and affordable satellite phone equipment and service they have come to expect from Satcom Direct,” said David Greenhill, President of Satcom Direct. “We are committed to developing exclusive applications and nurturing partnerships to ensure we deliver solutions to fit the growing needs and requirements of our customers, now and in the future.”

“Satcom Direct is a valued distribution partner for other Inmarsat services, and we are delighted that they are adding IsatPhone Pro to their portfolio,” said Chris D’Aguiar, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Inmarsat. “IsatPhone Pro represents the ultimate package of price and functionality, and we are excited about Satcom Direct introducing this service to their customers in some key market sectors around the world.”

IsatPhone Pro operates globally over the three Inmarsat-4 satellites, which have an expected operational lifespan beyond 2023. These geostationary satellites lend stability to the network connection to minimize the possibility of dropped calls.

The IsatPhone Pro handset and accessories are available through the Satcom Direct Satcom Store and can be ordered online at www.satcomstore.com or by calling 321.777.0771.
