El Al Airlines Selects Pratt & Whitney’s Environmental Friendly EcoPower® Engine Wash

Under the agreement, El Al will perform washes at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport, and Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners will perform washes at John F Kennedy International Airport.

PARIS AIR SHOW - June 20, 2011 – El Al Airlines signed a long-term agreement to use Pratt & Whitney’s environmentally friendly EcoPower® engine wash system. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.Under the agreement, El Al will perform washes at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport, and Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners will perform washes at John F Kennedy International Airport. The airline will also offer EcoPower wash service to other Israel-based airlines.

“Prior to using EcoPower engine wash, we used the conventional shepherd’s hook method to wash our engines,” said Eitan Shilo, Powerplant and Aircraft Systems Engineering Manager at El Al. “We switched to the EcoPower system because we recognized the incremental operational, environmental and cost benefits that the system offers. With EcoPower, we anticipate reducing our fuel burn by at least .6 percent.”
