Paris – TECT Power, a leading supplier of gas turbine engine components, announced today their first partnership with MTU Aero Engines of Germany. TECT Power will serve as the sole outside supplier of MTU-designed high-pressure compressor integrally bladed rotors (IBRs) for Pratt & Whitney PurePower engines. These components will be sourced from TECT’s blisk and IBR facility located in Santa Fe Springs, CA.

“This partnership will combine TECT Power’s state-of-the-art blisk/IBR manufacturing capabilities with MTU’s world-class design capabilities,” said Robert Cohen, president of TECT Power. “The commercial aviation market has embraced Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower product, and we look forward to playing such a vital role with MTU.”

TECT Power’s manufacturing facilities produce sophisticated components with complex geometries and tight tolerances. These technical abilities are just one of the reasons why TECT Power is an industry leader in the manufacturing of airfoils, blisks/IBRs, diffusers, and forgings.

“Blisk manufacture requires a high degree of technical skills and advanced machining, and that’s exactly what our U.S. partner, TECT Power, has to offer,” said Theodor Pregler, senior vice president of procurement and logistics for MTU Aero Engines.

Preliminary development has begun, and the first delivery from TECT Power to MTU is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2011. TECT Power forecasts that early stages of production will commence by 2013, following a period of low-rate initial production. Volumes are predicted to reach 800 IBRs a year.
