MIAMI, August 5, 2011 – AAR celebrated the grand opening of a new Aircraft Wheel and Brake Services facility. This new 12,500 square foot facility is an extension of AAR Landing Gear Services, which has operated in the greater Miami area since 1987.
AAR Wheel and Brake Services offers commercial, military, and regional aviation customers aircraft wheel and brake services including repair, rebuilding, and inspection for all major aircraft types. AAR’s high-tech testing and certification process ensures that hairline fractures and other nonvisible stress defects are detected and repaired before they can cause damage or affect safety.
“The opening of this new facility demonstrates AAR’s continued commitment to expand our capabilities and grow the business. I’m very proud of our team in Miami and am hopeful that this facility will continue to create aviation jobs in the area,” said Pastor Lopez, General Manager of AAR Landing Gear Services. “We’ve grown our Wheel and Brake Services business from fewer than ten employees only a year ago to 30 employees today. Honored guests at the ribbon cutting ceremony included Congressman David Rivera (R-25), Town of Medley City Councilmembers Roberto Martell and Gerardo Silva, and representatives from Senator Marco Rubio's office. Miami Lakes Mayor and Town of Medley City Attorney Michael Bizzi presented AAR with the Town of Medley Mayor's Award for Distinguished Public Service on behalf of Mayor Ramon Rodriguez. Also in attendance were AAR partners in education, Miami Central High School Principal, Rennina Turner and Assistant Principal Marcus Miller; and City Year Miami leaders Saif Ishoof and Angelica Bertot.
