TX: Neighbors Say North Side Airport Runway is Too Close to Homes

April 17, 2018

SAN ANTONIO - A plane landing at Twin-Oaks Air Park in North San Antonio Monday afternoon crashed through a fence and landed in the road of a residential area.

The two passengers made it out with no serious injuries. One was transported to the hospital for back pain but both are expected to be okay.

It happened in the 600 block of Heimer Road at about 2:50 p.m. Officers said the couple was trying to land the plane at a private airport, but overshot runway and was unable to stop in time. The plane went over the runway fence, slightly tipped over and finally stopped in the middle of the street.
