More Interest in Air India's Ground Handling

Airport services provider Cargo Service Centre has written to the Indian government expressing interest in acquiring Air India's ground-handling arm, joining multiple other companies eyeing the subsidiary of the national carrier.

Another company has announced its interest in acquiring the ground handling portion of Air India's business, according to multiple reports.

According to News18.com, Civil aviation secretary RN Choubey announced Thursday that airport services provider Cargo Service Centre has written to the Indian government expressing interest in acquiring Air India's ground-handling arm of Air India Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL).

The report notes Cargo Service Centre joins other groups like Turkish firm Celebi and Indian conglomerate Bird Group that have shown interest in buying the subsidiary of the national carrier.

A report from ZeeBiz.com adds low-cost carrier IndiGo had earlier written to the Ministry of Civil Aviation expressing interest in international flight operations of Air India as well as its subsidiary, Air India Express.
