According to the Birmingham Mail, the problems were caused by ground handler Swissport experiencing staff issues which the airport admitted were “severely” impacting on passengers.

report from the Coventry Telegraph added that a Swissport spokesman estimated between 20 and 30 staff called in sick, accounting for more than a quarter of those expected to work. The firm was hopeful it could return to normal Thursday.
