Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority Making Progress at LVIA

The Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority once performed only ground handling services for Allegiant Air, but now also provides baggage, fueling and ticketing services for the air carrier.

Four years ago, the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, which owns and operates Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA) in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, faced $14 million in debt as a result of a 1990s lawsuit. But, according to a report from LVB.com, the authority has been able to overcome its financial burden due in large part to the sale of land.

Additionally, the report states the airport authority looked at its lease agreements to varify the appropriate amount of revenue was being collected. The aiport authourity once performed only ground handling services for Allegiant Air. But now it also provides baggage, fueling and ticketing services for the air carrier. LVIA also performs cargo ground handling for ATI, ABX and Atlas, according to the article.
