It was a situation that could have turned deadly, but expertise on the ground brought a plane down safely at the Monroe County Airport Sunday afternoon.
Monroe County Mayor Tim Yates said Tom Roush was on his way to Kentucky when he noticed the front wheel of his airplane wasn’t operating properly.
“The wheel had become bent,” Yates said, “and he knew it needed to be worked on and all of his tools were at the Monroe County Airport. So he turned around and headed back.”
