Kuala Lumpur International Airport is expected to spend $35 million USD over the next several years in an effort to upgrade its baggage-handling efficiency.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is expected to spend $35 million USD over the next several years in an effort to upgrade its baggage-handling efficiency.

According to a report from Channel NewsAsia, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) - which manages the airport - called for a tender and is expected to start work to improve the airport by early next year. This will include upgrading the airport's main baggage sorting system, according the report, allowing sorters to process up to 10,000 pieces of luggage per hour.

It was also reported that the airports baggage carousel would be improved to allow for simultaneous handling for multiple flights.
