Ryanair Threatens to Cut All Flights to Europe

Feb. 20, 2017

RYANAIR has warned that all its flights between the UK and Europe could be axed in March 2019 if the government insists on a ‘cliff-edge’ Brexit.

The leading low-cost airline’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, said that the current open skies agreement – whereby planes can fly across other countries’ airspace with impunity within the EU – is under threat.

The arrangement hinges on the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice, according to Mr O’Leary – which Prime Minister Theresa May has suggested the UK will not be subject to after it leaves the EU.

He believes that getting agreements in place with EU nations will take longer than the proposed two-year time frame from the point of Article 50 being triggered.
