Delays could impact airports in India as ground handling staff await airport entry passes from the Bureau for Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

The Hindustan Times reported air travelers should expect delays and canceled flights if the passes are not renewed.

According to the report, the BCAS had refused to extend airport pass for ground handling agents who were outsourced. But after repeated requests, it has extended entry permit for such staff till March 2017.

The Hindustan Times quoted a BCAS official saying that the organization will give licences to three ground handling agencies and airlines will have to hire ground staff from them only.
