False Alarm Temporarily Isolates Saudi Arabian Airlines Plane

Sept. 20, 2016

A Saudi Arabian Airlines plane was isolated at a Manila airport in the Philippines, due to a false hijacking alarm.

The incident, which has been resolved, took place after the pilot said the aircraft was under threat. According to multiple news outlets, it was later discovered that a button indicating a hijack was in progress was pressed twice by mistake.

The plane, identified as SVA 872, landed in Manila having arrived from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Boeing 777 was isolated after it landed and security personnel were deployed as a precaution. The passengers were later allowed to disembark.
