Dnata spends over $4m in Pakistan airport operations

Dnata’s Pakistan airport ground handling subsidiary has started services at three airports this year

Dubai -- Pakistan airport ground handling subsidiary Gerry’s dnata invested more than $4 million launching new operations in the country this year.

Gerry’s dnata launched services at Multan International in May, Quetta International in June and Faisalabad International in July at cost of “over $4 million,” according to an emailed statement from Dnata on Monday.

Dnata is Emirates Group’s airport and travel services subsidiary.

The Pakistani subsidiary expects to increase its staff numbers by 140 as part of building up its operations in Multan, Quetta and Faisalabad, dnata said.

“This expansion will help the industry continue to grow and meet the needs of the travel and cargo communities,” stated Gerry’s dnata Vice President Syed Haris Raza.

“Our new locations add cargo capacity, passenger handling capabilities and create new jobs — a good thing for the industry and the economy,” he added.

Gerry’s dnata is Pakistan’s largest ground handler with other operations at airports in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar, according to dnata.

Last week, dnata President Gary Chapman told Gulf News the company was looking at acquiring airport operations in Europe and the America’s. It recently completed a deal to acquire ground handling operations at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.
