DynCorp To Lay Off Nearly 400 Employees

Company loses GSE maintenance work with Navy aircraft after 35 years.

Nearly 400 employees of McLean-basedDynCorp International Inc. will lose their jobs with the defense contractor in March due to the Navy's decision to transition work long held by DynCorp to another company.

DynCorp, which was acquired in 2010 by private equity group Cerberus Capital Management LP, provides ground support equipment maintenance for Navy aircraft at the Aviation Support Fleet Readiness Center headquartered at Solomons, Maryland. The current contract was awarded in November 2013 and valued at $27 million, though DynCorp has performed the maintenance work under consecutive contracts for about 35 years.
