Oct. 20, 2014

NBAA 2014, Orlando, FL | October 20, 2014: ForeFlight, creator of the bestselling ForeFlight Mobile flight planning and electronic flight bag app, today announced that Scott Dennstaedt, an aviation weather expert and innovator, has joined the company in the role of Weather Scientist.

“We admire Scott’s evangelism of aviation weather intelligence and share with him a common mission to modernize and advance the state of the art in weather information delivery to pilots,” says Jason Miller, Chief Technology Officer and cofounder of ForeFlight. “Scott will shape and lead our future aviation weather initiatives and help us build even more amazing weather capabilities for ForeFlight pilots.”

Scott’s vision for ForeFlight Mobile includes giving pilots more actionable, relevant, and automatic weather intelligence that make traditional text weather briefings a thing of the past, as well as enhancing pilot situational awareness with respect to inflight weather.

“The weather briefing pilots receive hasn’t changed all that much over the last several decades,” says Scott. “ForeFlight is positioned to deliver some of the newest weather guidance and tools available from the National Weather Service, making many routine operational decisions easier and equipping pilots with the information they need to make flight operations even safer and more efficient.”

Scott brings a wealth of knowledge as a former National Weather Service research meteorologist specializing in aviation weather training for pilots flying technically advanced aircraft. In addition, Scott is uniquely qualified in his experience as a software engineer, as a flight instructor, and as the founder of the popular AvWxWorkshops.com.
