Epic Aviation Wins $12 Million Contract

Epic awarded one-year contract with the Pentagon's Defense Logistics Agency to supply military aircraft with aviation turbine fuel.

Aug. 13--Salem-based Epic Aviation LLC was among 11 oil and gas distribution companies to be awarded multimillion-dollar contracts this week by the Pentagon's Defense Logistics Agency. Epic will be paid up to a maximum of $12,002,258 on a one-year contract to supply military aircraft with aviation turbine fuel.

Epic supplies commercial, military and general aviation customers from almost 300 fueling points, from Anchorage to Horseshoe Bay Resort in Texas.

The Epic contract was among 11 military aviation fuel contracts announced this week, most for much higher awards. The military also accepted bids from Valero Marketing and Supply in San Antonio, ExxonMobil Fuels in Fairfax, Va., Shell Oil Products of Houston, Petro Star of Anchorage, Hawaii Independent Energy of Kapolei, Western Refining of El Paso, Chevron USA of San Ramon, Calif., BP West Coast Products of Blaine, Wash., Phillips 66 of Bartlesville, Okla., and Calumet Montana Refining of Great Falls, awarding contracts collectively valued at more than $1.9 billion.
