July 16--A British Airways flight to London was diverted to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Wednesday because a crew member required medical attention, according to airline officials.
Flying from Los Angeles to Heathrow Airport outside London, the Airbus A380 landed in the Twin Cities shortly after 3 a.m., according to a British Airways spokeswoman.
The crew member's condition was not immediately known Wednesday morning.
Flight 268 departed from the Twin Cities airport shortly after 6 a.m and was expected to arrive at Heathrow shortly after 7 p.m. local time.
Piers Morgan, a former CNN anchor, was aboard the flight. He tweeted, "My BA flight from LA-London has been diverted to Minneapolis after medical emergency involving young stewardess. Hope she's OK."
The Airbus A380 can carry 525 passengers, and is considered the world's largest commercial aircraft.
