Lufthansa Technik, an aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul industry, will expand its South Florida regional office in Miramar, creating 24 jobs.

May 02--Lufthansa Technik, an aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul industry, will expand its South Florida regional office in Miramar, creating 24 jobs, the governor's office announced Thursday.

The expansion will create a capital investment of $114,000, according to a news release.

Last year, Miramar's City Commission approved up to $14,400 in economic incentives to Lufthansa Technik to locate its customer service center in the city as well as a maximum of $12,000 for local hiring.

Lufthansa Technik Component Services, headquartered in Tulsa, Okla., said it is expanding in South Florida as part of its overall strategy of worldwide expansion. The company said it plans to consolidate its customer service, account management and product sales functions at the Miramar location.

The company said it considered several factors in its selection of Miramar, including tax incentives, access to international airports, proximity to universities and the pool of potential employees.

Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance CEO Bob Swindell said Lufthansa will add to Miramar and Broward County's growing cluster of aviation companies.

Lufthansa Technik is an internationally licensed maintenance, production and development organization. The six business units of Lufthansa Technik serve about 750 customers worldwide.
