Manchester Airport Selects CLD Fencing

The Airport specified Cheshire-based manufacturer of rigid mesh fencing systems, CLD Fencing Systems, to supply a highly secure, anti-climb fencing solution to maximise the site’s safety and security

Multi award-winning Manchester Airport handles more than 22 million passengers each year, using over 60 airlines flying to over 200 destinations, and prides itself on customer service and security. The Airport specified Cheshire-based manufacturer of rigid mesh fencing systems, CLD Fencing Systems, to supply a highly secure, anti-climb fencing solution to maximise the site’s safety and security.

CLD Fencing Systems has supplied The Ultimate Extra Rigid mesh Panel system with special base-plated posts mounted on a concrete barrier system, and a Y-crank topping with razor wire to prevent unauthorised intruders entering the site.

A spokesperson at CLD Fencing comments: “We worked with a highly-skilled CLD Approved Contractor to provide a solution for the airport, and came up with a sample bay that the client could approve. Once given the go-ahead, the installer ensured that the site security was maintained at all times during the installation process to prevent any downtime, and keep the site fully protected.”

CLD Fencing Systems supplied Manchester Airport with a solution that met the stringent criteria set down by the Department for Transport, with the Ultimate Extra fencing.

The Ultimate Extra range is an exceptionally strong welded galvanised steel wire mesh panel system, which is very difficult to climb because of its close wire centres. Its security is enhanced by the RHS post and channel clamp bar, and even further as it is used with SafeTfix, a fixing method unique to CLD. SafeTfix has no visible fixings on the outside face and there are no sharp edges on the inside. Since it was developed – originally for the education market – it has been widely adopted at sites requiring high security because of its tamper-resistance as well as its safety.

The Ultimate and Ultimate Extra profiled panel systems are galvanised, and after stringent cleaning and treatment are polyester powder-coated, giving a well adhered covering to a minimum of 60 microns, available in the RAL range of colours.

The Ultimate range conforms to BS1722: Part 14 and the Ultimate Extra SR1 is tested by LPCB to LPS 1175 and is accredited by Secured by Design.
