TUCSON, Ariz., Jan. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Securaplane Technologies, a leading supplier of avionics products for business, commercial and military aircraft is expanding its wireless capabilities into cameras and switches.

The development supports lighter, more fuel-efficient aircraft and helps pilots avoid unnecessary and costly ground accidents at increasingly crowded airports.

The wireless external cameras were created for situational awareness on the ground, transmitting video data wirelessly into the cockpit as part of ground collision avoidance systems.

Situated on the wingtips of the aircraft, they provide pilots with a unique vantage point for wing clearance.

Transmitted images utilize a red or green tint, delineating the difference between a dangerous or safe path of travel.

As the product is wireless, it is easy to install with no requirement to integrate the product with existing aircraft wiring.

The wireless, battery-free switch saves security system battery power as dedicated power for activation in the event of an attempted incursion is not needed.  The wireless technology significantly decreases system weight, is easy to install and increase system life.

Securaplane has more than a decade of wireless system design and manufacturing experience.  Its certified wireless systems are in service with 1,500 aircraft worldwide, including Boeing 787 aircraft, which features Securaplane's wireless emergency lighting system.
