Dec. 21--SAN ANTONIO -- All U.S. service members now have "precheck" status, allowing them access to lanes with streamlined airport security procedures, according to the Transportation Security Administration.

The PreCheck lanes are now at 100 participating airports. The San Antonio International Airport opened a lane late last month.

Eligible travelers get fast-track screening that doesn't automatically require they remove shoes, belts or laptops from cases.

Members of the armed services, including the U.S. Coast Guard, reserves and National Guard, can access the lanes by using their Department of Defense identification numbers while reserving airline seats.

Nonmilitary frequent fliers may find they have PreCheck status when they print their border passes. Enrollees in Department of Homeland Security expedited clearance programs such as Global Entry also are eligible.
