Chippewa Aerospace Completes Aircraft Testing To Allow PED Usage In Flight

Conway, South Carolina: Chippewa Aerospace has completed the Front Door testing for the Republic Embraer E-170, E190, and Bombardier Q-400 aircraft for PED Usage.  This testing is required to demonstrate that PED usage will not affect the navigation systems during CAT II or CAT III approaches.  Having this testing completed will allow Republic to allow PED usage during all phases of flight, including CAT II approaches.  The Front Door testing takes approximately 3 hours to complete for each model tested.

In addition, Chippewa Aerospace has completed the Back Door testing for the Bombardier Dash 8 100/200/300 series aircraft at Piedmont Airlines and CommutAir.  The completion of this testing will allow these airlines to allow PED usage below 10,000 feet.  The Back Door testing takes approximately 5 hours to complete for each model tested.
