Dec. 04--Qatar Airways announced Wednesday that it will start nonstop service from Dallas/Fort Worth Airport to its hub in Doha, Qatar.

The airline is the second major Persian Gulf carrier to initiate service at DFW Airport. In 2012, Emirates Airlines launched nonstop service to Dubai from DFW.

Starting on July 1, the Qatar flights will leave Doha at 8:10 a.m. and arrive at DFW at 6:15 p.m. The return flight will depart DFW at 7:35 p.m. and arrive in Doha the next day at 6:20 p.m.

The airline will use a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with two classes of service including 42 business class seats and 217 economy class seats.

"We are pleased to continue enhancing our presence in the United States and are committed to providing passengers with an exceptional travel experience with Qatar Airways, as they travel on their long-haul and short-haul journeys," the carrier said in a statement.

Qatar joined American Airlines' oneworld alliance in October. The carrier also announced service to Philadelphia and Miami, which are also hubs of American and its merger partner, US Airways.

The airline currently flies to four cities in the United States: New York, Chicago, Houston and Washington, D.C.
