CHICAGO, November 25, 2013 - Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino has been selected to receive the 2013 "Excellence in Public Service" Award from the Civic Federation and the Motorola Solutions Foundation.

The award recognizes a non-elected government official who has had an extraordinary impact on the quality of state and local government services in Illinois. The award will be presented at an event on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago.

Commissioner Andolino manages one of the world's busiest airport systems comprised of O'Hare and Midway International Airports. Chicago's airports have an annual operating budget of $1 billion and handle more than 85 million passengers and one million operations each year. She is also leading the O'Hare Modernization Program (OMP) - an $8 billion mega-project that is reconfiguring O'Hare's airfield into a parallel runway layout system to reduce delays and increase capacity. Andolino has been credited with increasing passenger and cargo service to the Chicago market, significantly enhancing the airports' concessions program and making the CDA an industry-leader for airport sustainability.

Past recipients of the Motorola Solutions Foundation Excellence in Public Service Award include Director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services Julie Hamos; former City of Chicago First Lady Maggie Daley; Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority Trustee Jim Reilly; United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and former Chicago Transit Authority President Ron Huberman.
