Nov. 26--The Golden Leaf Foundation has extended the time that the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority can accept a $1 million grant for a possible expansion by Timco Aviation Services at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

Dan Gerlach, the president of the Golden Leaf Foundation, said that the grant was originally awarded to the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority this past spring, and that the foundation is simply giving the authority more time to return a grantee agreement.

Now, the airport authority has until March to accept the grant.

"We're waiting on Timco," said Kevin Baker, the executive director of the airport authority. "Timco is evaluating their opportunities for financing of their new buildings."

Baker said that Timco would build new buildings and the grant would allow The Piedmont Triad Airport Authority to do some of the site work that would be necessary for those buildings.

Timco announced last month that an agreement had been signed for it to be acquired by Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd., an international aircraft engineering and maintenance services company based in Hong Kong, for about $388.8 million.
