Nov. 07--Palm Beach County officials and executives of NetJets Inc. celebrated the grand opening of the aviation company's new private terminal at Palm Beach International Airport on Wednesday.

The 10,000-square-foot facility located off Country Club Road was built in partnership with airport operator Signature Flight Support Corp., and represents a $13 million investment. The terminal's amenities include a conference and business room, flight-planning facilities, children's entertainment room and crew lounge.

"We're always striving to increase the service level we offer our customers. We like to wow them," said NetJets Chairman and CEO Jordan B. Hansell.

NetJets offers a fractional share ownership program that allows individuals and corporations to purchase a share of a private jet for less than the cost of owning the entire aircraft.

Hansell said opening a private terminal at the airport "made terrific sense" since West Palm Beach is one of NetJets' most popular domestic destinations with more than 10,000 flights in and out annually.

"It's good for residents here who use this type of facility," said Bruce Pelly, director of airports for Palm Beach County during the festivities. "It's nice to be one of [NetJets] top markets."

The Berkshire Hathaway company has a long-term lease for the terminal with Signature, which provides a range of services including fueling, hangar and office rentals, ground handling and maintenance to business and private aviation customers.

"It's just another notch in the right direction in terms of the range of travel options available here for discerning travelers," Discover Palm Beach County President and CEO Jorge Pesquera said.
