Landmark Aviation held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 17 for its new San Diego International Airport facility. Landmark Aviation will design, build and operate a new, state-of-the-art FBO campus, with a 20,000 square foot terminal, a 250,000 square foot ramp and five hangars on 12.4 acres of airfield.
The new facility will achieve LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council.
“This is a wonderful first step as we begin to develop the north side of the airfield,” said Thella Bowens, President/CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, which owns and operates San Diego International Airport. “We look forward to working with our partners in Landmark and Turner to improve the customer experience for our general aviation passengers.”
Several companies will be involved in the project including Turner Construction Company, Tammy Edmonds Design, KPFF Consulting Engineers, Kleinfelder, NV5 Nolte Associates, Spurlock Poirier Landscape Architects, and TMAD Taylor & Gaines. Many of the companies involved are locally based.
“This groundbreaking officially kicks off the much anticipated FBO campus development that we have all been working so hard toward,” stated Landmark Aviation President & CEO Dan Bucaro. “We are excited to get this project started, and to begin construction on a facility that will not only enhance the San Diego International Airport community, but will also provide our customers with a comfortable, spacious terminal with many new amenities.”
