Former Vice President Al Gore to Welcome Attendees to Airports Going Green

Al Gore at Chicago Department of Aviation Airports Going Green Conference

CHICAGO, September 27, 2013 --The Chicago Department of Aviation is pleased to announce that Airports Going Green Conference attendees will receive a personalized, video address from former Vice President and leading advocate for global change, Al Gore. The 6th Annual Airports Going Green Conference will be held November 12-14, 2013 at the Chicago Mart Plaza Holiday Inn in downtown Chicago.

Former Vice President Gore is Chairman of The Climate Reality Project, a non-profit devoted to solving the climate crisis. He is the subject of an Oscar-winning documentary and is the co-recipient, with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for "informing the world of the dangers posed by climate change."

Conference attendees will also receive a complimentary copy of Gore's critically acclaimed book, "Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis" courtesy of the Hudson Group.

Airports Going Green is jointly hosted by the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).

 In addition to discussions of climate change adaptation, the 2013 Conference will cover the FAA's sustainability guidance and related initiatives; explore airport business sustainability partnerships; highlight international sustainability perspectives; sustainable water management; discuss tools for evaluating outcomes of sustainability programs; and present case studies and Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) projects to illustrate sustainability successes in the industry. Many conference sessions will offer Continuing Education Credits to help satisfy LEED continuing education requirements. The final day of the conference offers a first-hand look at O'Hare International Airport's sustainability efforts with an airfield tour and a reception at O'Hare's in-terminal Urban Garden.
