Sept. 18--A longtime airline industry executive has joined low-cost Spirit Airlines as senior vice president and chief operating officer.
The Miami-based carrier said Wednesday that John Bendoraitis will oversee areas including flight operations, technical services and maintenance, airport operations, safety, supply chain and operations support.
Bendoraitis spent 22 years at Northwest Airlines before becoming president of Compass Airlines in 2006 and moving to the same role at Comair Airlines in 2008. He became chief operating officer at Frontier Airlines in March 2012.
