NEW YORK, Aug. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) today announces the appointment of Marisa Von Wieding to the position of Vice President, System Operations Control.  In this role, Ms. Von Wieding is responsible for the airline's operations of 850 daily flights in 79 locations throughout the Americas, including Dispatch, Air Traffic Management, Crew Services and Emergency Response and Care.  Ms. Von Wieding is promoted from her role of Director, JFK Operations and Customer Service, and reports to Alex Battaglia, Senior Vice President, Airports and System Operations.

"Marisa brings to this role a unique understanding of how airlines run, and how the decisions we make in the SOC help our colleagues in the Airports, onboard our flights, and downline, in our hangars," Mr. Battaglia said. "The role demands leadership with a 360-degree view of the airline and the ability to make decisions in real-time, and Marisa brings that and more to the role.  I look forward to her leadership of this team."

Ms. Von Wieding joined JetBlue in 2007 after a 24-year career with Delta Air Lines and Pan Am, culminating in the role of General Manager.

"There's a saying here at JetBlue: There are two kinds of crewmembers – those who serve customers, and those who serve the crewmembers who serve customers," Ms. Von Wieding said. "I take that responsibility very seriously, and I know my colleagues in the SOC do, as well.  I look forward to serving JetBlue's 15,000 crewmembers with operational decisions that help them serve our customers to the best of their ability, and continue to earn our customers' loyalty every day."
