July 30--The Lynchburg Museum is offering a free presentation on aviation history Friday evening, featuring three of the region's early pilots.

The museum, at 901 Court Street, will be open free of charge from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of the "First Fridays" events.

Visitors will get a chance to talk with three men who played a role in local aviation history.

They are: Charlie Burnette, who helped found the Virginia State Police helicopter program in 1968; Lawrence Falwell, co-founder of Falwell Aviation and a member of the Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame; and Jim Rogers, who served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and is author of "Planes, Pilots, and Gofer Tales of Lynchburg, Virginia's Old Preston Glenn Airport".

The museum will display historic photographs, along with images of pilots, stunt planes, military craft, log books, training manuals and other aviation memorabilia.

Many pioneers of 20th century flight had Lynchburg roots, including Chauncey Spencer, Roland Kyle, Vincent "Squeek" Burnett, Woody Edmundson, Dan Druen, Lucille Kent and George Loving.
