July 01--Sun Country Airlines on Monday launched service between Chicago's Midway Airport and its home base in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

The airline plans to operate two flights a day between the cities.

It's the first time Sun Country has served Chicago. Sun Country, a small airline built by flight attendants and pilots from the defunct Braniff International and aimed at leisure travelers, recently launched service to major cities including Boston, Dallas, New York and Los Angeles.

Sun Country CEO John Fredericksen said Chicago was one of the most requested new destinations by customers.
