QantasLink To Outsource Ground Services At MQL

May 20, 2013
NTL Aviation Services has been appointed to provide customer service, baggage handling and aircraft cleaning.

QantasLink has announced it is outsourcing customer service, baggage handling and aircraft cleaning at the Mildura Airport.

It says it is inefficient to run its own ground handling services because of the airline's flight schedule. The airline runs three return flights each day, except for Saturday when there are two return flights.

A Qantas spokesman says this means there is a lot of unproductive time for employees during the day.

The change affects six QantasLink employees. The airline says it will try and redeploy the workers within the Qantas Group or provide redundancy packages.

NTL Aviation Services has been appointed to provide customer service, baggage handling and aircraft cleaning. It provides similar services for regional airlines in New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria.

Qantas also has 20 crew based in Mildura but these positions will not be affected by the changes.
