Union chief disagrees with "Southwest's insistence that temporary contract workers are good for our customers and our airline."

May 09--WEST BAY -- Members of Transport Workers Union 555 and ground workers at Southwest Airlines concerned with Southwest contract demands will rally at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport today and Friday.

The group will distribute leaflets to passengers at ECP from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. and at 17 other locations across the country to inform customers on the proposals, which the union says will diminish customer service.

Local TWU President Charles Cerf said the union, which represents more than 9,400 ground crew workers at Southwest, disagrees with "Southwest's insistence that temporary contract workers are good for our customers and our airline."

Cerf said TWU members are career employees committed to providing friendly, efficient, on-time service.
