Jakarta: Indonesia's ministry of health has installed thermal scanner at its international airports and seaports in order to avert the spread of a new avian flu H7N9 that has mainly struck China, media reports said citing a ministry official.

"We`ve checked and all equipments are ready. Yet, there is an agreement between World Health Organization and the South-East Asian countries not to activate the scanner now," Antara News quoted Tjandra Yoga Aditama, director general for disease control and environmental health at Indonesia's Health Ministry as saying on Monday.

The health ministry's disease control unit will further conduct a routine evaluation process from time to time, according to Tjandra. Besides this, the health ministry has also started putting up posters indicating warning messages regarding the avian flu H7N9 at all the airports and seaports across the country.

Meanwhile, the health affairs officials have been also cautioned of the epidemic. With this, the health department has also called on ministries to check on the logistics like personal protective equipment and the antiviral drug oseltamivir, according to Tjandra.
