Airlines for America Honors US Airways' Jon Oberdick and FAA's Ali Bahrami with the Nuts and Bolts Award for Exceptional Service in Airline Engineering or Maintenance

Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines , yesterday awarded the A4A Engineering, Maintenance, and Material Council (EMMC) 2013 Nuts and Bolts Award to Ali Bahrami, manager of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Transport Airplane Directorate and Jon Oberdick, managing director of technical services at US Airways.

Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines , yesterday awarded the A4A Engineering, Maintenance, and Material Council (EMMC) 2013 Nuts and Bolts Award to Ali Bahrami, manager of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Transport Airplane Directorate and Jon Oberdick, managing director of technical services at US Airways. The award recognizes exceptional service and contributions in the engineering or maintenance fields of the commercial aviation industry.

Jon Oberdick has more than thirty years of exemplary achievement in commercial aviation structures engineering and management of technical operations, and was elected for the airline award. The EMMC cited him for his leadership, trend-setting innovation in safety management programs, and consistent provision for safe and reliable flight operations, and for his commitment in serving as the industry spokesman for the Council. Jon Oberdick received his award in a plenary session of the 2013 MRO Americas conference and exhibition in Atlanta, GA.

Ali Bahrami, the industry recipient, has more than thirty-three years of experience in the industry, including the last twenty-three in FAA in management positions critical to assuring the airworthiness and safe operations of new and in-service large transports. He was cited for his outstanding leadership, management, and balanced oversight of commercial aviation certification, policies, and continuous operational safety. Circumstances kept Ali Bahrami from attending the event. He will be presented with his award next week at FAA headquarters.

Since 1967, the A4A EMMC has bestowed the Nuts and Bolts Award to individuals that have made significant contributions as airline employees or individuals from other segments of the industry.
