Gov. Scott Walker has announced a $166,667 project to design and construct a new hangar area at the Platteville Municipal Airport in Grant County.

Governor Scott Walker has announced a $166,667 project to design and construct a new hangar area at the Platteville Municipal Airport in Grant County.

Stacey Miller, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said expansion of the existing hangar area will accommodate airport growth.

Design work is expected to begin this spring.

FUNDING BREAKDOWN

* State = $8,333

* City of Platteville = $8,334

* Federal Aviation Administration = $150,000

Platteville Municipal Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan (SASP). The airport is classified as a small general aviation airport, meaning it primarily supports single-engine aircraft.
