SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU), the largest carrier in Puerto Rico, with more flights to and from the Island than any other airline, is pleased with the result of the process leading up to the selection of the new administrator of Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan. The airline, which led San Juan Airport's Airline Affairs Committee during this process, would like to thank the Government of Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rico Ports Authority, the Federal Aviation Administration and Aerostar Airport Holdings for a transparent, efficient and ultimately successful process.
Further, to reaffirm JetBlue's commitment to the Commonwealth, the airline today announced its intent to launch new daily nonstop service from San Juan to Chicago (O'Hare) – JetBlue's 17th nonstop destination from the Puerto Rican capital. Flights are scheduled to begin November 20, 2013 and expected to be out for sale soon.
"As the largest carrier in Puerto Rico, we are very pleased to be partnering with Aerostar at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan," said JetBlue's President and CEO Dave Barger. "We are confident Aerostar will be great stewards of the public trust and provide a great solution for both the airlines serving San Juan and the people of Puerto Rico.
