Feb. 28--NORTH ANDOVER -- A company that does photo imaging and aerial mapping plans to expand its quarters at Lawrence Municipal Airport.
Flight Landata Inc. has filed a notice of intent with the Conservation Commission. Chris Sparages, an engineer who represents the company, told the commission last night the firm intends to build a 9,680-square-foot addition that would include hangar space and a research and development area.
Part of the site leased by Flight Landata is within the 25-foot no-disturb zone for wetlands. Sparages said there are tributaries near the site that feed streams that in turn flow into the Merrimack River. The building the company seeks to expand is actually "very high up," Sparages said.
The company also hopes to put in 19 additional parking spaces at the 250 Clark St. facility. Sparages said Flight Landata will have to rebuild its septic system.
The commission decided to continue the hearing on the company's plans until March 13.
The commission also allowed a continuance for Cafua Management's proposal to build a Dunkin' Donuts coffee shop at 1018 Osgood St. That hearing is also scheduled for March 13.
The board allowed a waiver for Susan Caffrey, of 50 Woodlea Road, so that she can rebuild a deck at her house. Part of the current deck as it is now built is too close to wetlands, according to the board.
Commission member Joseph Lynch said that when Caffrey bought the house, she did not realize the deck was not compliant with wetlands regulations.
"Thank you so much," Caffrey said after the commission granted the waiver.
The commission voted to approve the construction of a house on a lot at 1053 Salem St. The project still needs the approval of the Planning Board.
The commission held off on approving the building of two houses on a nearby lot at 1049 Salem St. Both lots are now owned by Gail Holleran of Boxford, who hopes to sell them.
Conservation Administrator Jennifer Hughes said she intends to organize a public input meeting on a forest management plan.
