Cavotec Secures Ground Support Equipment Orders For Hanoi, Cairo Airports

Cavotec has received contracts for the delivery of its integrated ground support equipment for installation at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport in Vietnam and Cairo International Airport in Egypt.

As part of contract for Noi Bai International Airport, the firm will manufacture and install several air, electrical power and water supply systems, including bridge-mounted pre-conditioned air units, 400Hz solid state frequency converters and potable water systems.

Cavotec will also offer on-site testing, commissioning and testing of the installed equipments as part of its customer support.

The largest airport in northern Vietnam, Noi Bai Airport is currently executing a development programme to boost its passenger capacity to around 16 million per year.

The order for Cairo International Airport includes delivery of 400Hz solid state frequency converters and PCA units, which will be installed on three passenger boarding bridges at the airport.

Cavotec received both the contracts through Japanese engineering and manufacturing group ShinMaywa Industries.

Operating with two 12,466ft, 3,800m-long runways, Cairo International is Egypt's busiest airport and Africa's second busiest following OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Cairo International's Terminal 2, which is currently undergoing renovation, will have a handling capacity of 8.5 million international passengers per year upon the commencement of operations.

The ongoing projects that are in their last stage of completion include a seasonal terminal with a capacity of 3.5 million passengers per year, a multi-story car park with a capacity of 3,000 cars and the installation of automated people mover system.
