Mandala Airlines to Start 3 New Flights for Domestic, International Routes

The three new flights will connect Surabaya, the provincial capital of East Java and Jakarta, to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Jakarta: Indonesia's privately-owned aviation company, Mandala airlines on Friday said that it would launch 3 new flights, connecting Surabaya, the provincial capital of East Java and Jakarta, including Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

"We are really happy that we can start 2013 with a positive attainment," the company's president Paul Rombeek said in a statement.

He further added that low-cost airliner has been indicating a positive growth in terms of routes and its fleet including improvements on its services for passengers.

The three flights would all be served by new Airbus A320s, and with this Mandala will serve in 11 routes, including seven international flights, with 26 daily flights, said the airline.

Meanwhile, according to the company's commercial director Brata Rafly, Mandala is committed to providing best flight services to its customers. The airline since December last year has started 7 flights for domestic and international routes.

Nevertheless, Indonesia also has other low-cost airliners like Lion Air, AirAsia including Garuda Indonesia posing as tough competitors for Mandela.

According to estimates of Herry S Gumay, director general of air transportation at the transportation ministry, in 2012 number of people traveling by air would jump to more than 70 million as compared to 62 million in 2011.
