St. Mary's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in the US has selected Air Methods to operate its CareFlight programme in Grand Junction, Colorado.
As part of the contract, Air Methods will provide air medical transportation services to St. Mary's Hospital CareFlight.
When the hospital's air medical programme began in 1980, the founder of Air Methods, Roy Morgan, piloted the helicopter that carried the first patient transported using the service.
Air Methods CEO Aaron Todd said, "We are honoured and pleased to have earned St. Mary's respect and confidence in once again being selected as their partner in serving the communities of Grand Junction, Western Colorado and Eastern Utah."
Under the new agreement, Air Methods operates a Eurocopter AS350 helicopter based at the main hospital campus, and a Beechcraft King Air airplane based at Grand Junction Regional Airport.
Air Methods, which employs the assigned pilots and mechanics, offers communications services for the programme through its national Communications Center.
St. Mary's CareFlight is a team of critical care trained professionals utilising air transport to minimise out-of-hospital time and deliver patients to the appropriate destination quickly and safely.
