Air India SATS Airport Services Ltd. signed the deal with All Nippon Airways

Mumbai, Oct. 30 -- Air India SATS Airport Services Ltd (AISATS) on Monday said it has secured a ground handling contract from All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline, increasing its client portfolio to 14 international airlines at the New Delhi airport. AISATS is an equal venture between Air India Ltd and Singapore Airport Terminal Services, now known as SATS Ltd. All Nippon launched its Delhi operations with flights on the Delhi-Narita route on Monday. AISATS will be providing comprehensive ground services to ANA, which operates the Boeing 767 wide-body aircraft in this sector. AISATS has been present at Delhi airport since July 2010 and handles about 33,251 flights a year. Air India plans to spin off its two ground-handling and engineering division into independent units. "Air India's ground-handling division will not compete at the airports where AISATS is present. The joint venture AISATS will continue at airports of Bangalore, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangalore and Delhi despite Air India operationalizing its ground-handling business as independent business unit," an Air India executive said, requesting anonymity. Air India would be operationalizing the ground-handling business on 1 November, he said. Published by HT Syndication with permission from MINT.
