DOT Grants Funding For Eight Airport Improvement Projects

The following information was released by Associated Equipment Distributors (AED):

On Sept. 7, Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood announced $75.5 million in FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants to enhance eight airports across the country.

The AIP grants will be distributed to the following airports:

$4.8 million to James M. Cox Dayton International Airport (Dayton, Ohio) to expand the apron area around the terminal

$10 million to Fort Worth Alliance Airport (Fort Worth, Texas) to extend the runways

$3.2 million to Indianapolis International Airport (Indianapolis, Ind.) for the construction of a de-icing containment facility

$9.6 million to Orlando International Airport (Orlando, Fla.) to rehabilitate the runway and taxiway

$6.9 million to Portland-Hillsboro Airport (Portland, Ore.) for runway and taxiway improvements

$7.1 million to Venice Municipal Airport (Venice, Fla.) for runway repairs, runway safety area upgrades, and taxiway construction

$18.4 million to Van Nuys Airport (Los Angeles, Calif.) for reconstruction and to repave the primary runway

$15.5 million to Ralph Wien Memorial Airport (Kotzebue, Alaska) to expand runway safety areas

AIP provides $3.35 billion in annual funding for projects that are vital to maintaining the safety, capacity, and environmental stewardship of our nations airports. More than 3,300 airports are eligible for AIP grants benefiting commercial passengers, cargo operations, and general aviation activities throughout the nation.
